| Timenator |
||
Description |
Based on the dashboard of a 1957 Oldsmobile. I
had been thinking of making a second generation of the Techno Clock which
I made in 1995 and I thought that the Departure Time was a good basis from
which to start. I cast up a plaster Departure Time and got out my chisels. I wanted a clock which looked elegant and mechanical and I didn't have much more of an idea than that. Quite a lot of my work is done like this I start and the design evolves as I go along. When I got the tensile skeletal look which I wanted, I started drawing all over it. I wanted it to contain some of the elements of the techno clock so that there would be a continuation between the two designs. As it was becoming more bio-mechanical in its looks, the name Timenator was coined and I leaned towards a carapace type quality for the main casing to contrast with the leafspring structure of the legs.
